This is a specialist position with one of our clients who will review screening requests with consistency, accuracy, and thorough documentation. Because these screenings directly inform placement and employment decisions, the work demands precision, sound judgment, and a commitment to child safety.
The Administrative Assistant for this program evaluates requests submitted by employers, foster parents, caregivers, and other authorized parties to determine whether an individual has a substantiated history of abuse or neglect. Each request is reviewed for completeness and clarity, with all findings carefully documented to support transparent, defensible decisions.
In this capacity, the Specialist serves as a subject matter expert, offering guidance to staff, caregivers, and external partners on the screening process. This role reduces unnecessary system involvement, strengthens decision-making practices, enhances compliance, and contributes to a more effective and prevention‑focused child welfare environment.
Core ResponsibilitiesThe Specialist will:
- Conduct background checks using the designated child welfare information systems, in accordance with screening and licensing requirements.
- Review applicable registries for substantiated findings of abuse or neglect.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and readily accessible for audits or compliance reviews.
- Serve as a liaison between agencies, service providers, caregivers, and partners involved in the process.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of clerical or administrative support experience, including work in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing materials using a computer or word processor; assisting customers with applications or forms; or performing secretarial duties supporting professional staff.
OR - One year of experience performing the duties of an Administrative Assistant I.
