Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
The Electromechanical Technician will support the operation and maintenance of automated equipment in a food manufacturing facility. This role is essential for ensuring continuous, safe, and efficient production. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of electrical and mechanical systems, including conveyors, packaging equipment, and automated machinery. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on electromechanical equipment, including but not limited to motors, conveyors, sensors, and PLCs.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential equipment malfunctions or failures, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to effectively troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems.
- Work closely with the production and engineering teams to understand equipment functionality and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Calibrate, adjust, and replace components on equipment to maintain operational efficiency.
- Assist with the installation and setup of new machinery and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used, following GMP and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and practices, and participate in safety training as required.
- Collaborate with other technicians and supervisors to improve equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current on industry practices, technology, and safety standards.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in Electromechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in electromechanical maintenance, ideally in a food or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems (e.g., motors, sensors, PLCs) and mechanical systems (e.g., conveyors, pumps). Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of OSHA, GMP, and food safety standards.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry heavy equipment, and work in varying conditions such as hot, cold, or humid environments.
