Your Role at Cabot
Cabot has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical & Instrument Technician to install, repair, wire, and maintain a variety of electrical and electronic equipment and controls related to production and building equipment as well as performing preventative maintenance while ensuring safety and environmental compliance, process efficiency, product quality, and cost effectiveness. The position will on-site at the Carrollton, KY plant.

- Perform preventative maintenance while ensuring safety, environmental compliance, process efficiency, product quality, and cost effectiveness.

- Work in a safe manner and actively participate in Cabot's safety, health, and environmental programs. Attend scheduled team meetings and complete safety training requirements. Keep the work area safe and clean.
- Troubleshoot and repair electronic/instrument control systems. Read and understand complex manuals, drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment vendor documentation.
- Perform preventative maintenance on process equipment including but not limited to automatic valves and transmitter calibrations.
- Maintain and continuously improve knowledge of all processes and equipment.
- Use CMMS to enter maintenance work orders and document work performed or equipment condition to establish KPI trends.
- Apply analytical skills and root cause analysis to identify explanations for equipment failure.
- Complete required paperwork and forms associated with maintenance and non-maintenance activities (e.g., SH&E incident reporting, production records, equipment testing results).
- Support efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care Management System and ISO Management Systems as applicable (RC14001 and ISO
9001). - Accept overtime assignments and work different shift schedules as needed; respond to call-outs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency; associate degree in a related field or military equivalency.
- 5 years of experience in an industrial or chemical manufacturing environment.
- Willing and able to work collaboratively in a team-based environment. Strong written and verbal communication and active listening skills. Able to work independently as well. Self-motivated with a track record of dependability including work history.
- A proven positive safety, health, and environmental record. Familiar with PPE, confined space entry, lockout/tag-out, hot work, safe work permitting, emergency response, and hazard awareness.
- Ability to remain calm and react effectively in critical situations.
- Experience with accident and near miss reporting, incident investigation, and accountability to standards.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. Specific training or experience in the electrical/electronic field.
- Knowledge of machine tools, mechanical parts, and their movements; familiarity with measurement devices, calibrators, hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems from major breakdowns to subtle adjustments and identify root causes.
- Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret complex operating instructions, technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Basic math skills. Effective time management, organizational, and record-keeping skills. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, cloud-based file explorers).
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and MEWPs.
- Flexible and able to work overtime and call-outs; adaptable to changing assignments and schedules.
