Overview

POSITION SUMMARY
The General Manager of Safety will lead the development, implementation, and continual improvement of Daifuku Services (DSUS) safety management system and policies across the organization. This role is vital in ensuring a safe working environment, compliance with safety regulations, and fostering a "Safety is our Core" culture. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in safety management, operational leadership, and a track record of driving results through effective workplace safety management and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Champion a culture of safety and promote the principle that "Safety is our Core."
  • Implement long-term safety goals and strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee safety operations across multiple sites, effectively managing all areas of safety escalations.
  • Drive clear safety objectives, initiatives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) that support organizational goals.
  • Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advocate for safety initiatives and promote compliance.
  • Identify and implement process changes that enhance departmental capabilities and improve safety performance throughout the organization.
  • Conduct and oversee safety compliance audits, ensuring adherence to legal regulations and internal policies.
  • Manage and oversee employee medical care, ensuring timely access to healthcare services and medical needs arising from workplace accidents.
  • Direct and coordinate all workers  compensation cases, including communicating with medical professionals, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Analyze, develop and improve internal safety documentation through conducting research, interviews, site inspections, and reviewing processes and practices.
  • Develop and approve safety training programs and coaching methods for all employees, conduct training sessions on various safety and quality topics for employees at all organizational levels.
  • Analyze data, compile reports, verify accuracy, and deliver regular safety metric status updates and insights to leadership of all levels, highlighting areas for improvement and progress.
  • Investigate and improve functional best practices in safety management to maintain organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Promote continuous improvement platforms, such as quality programs, to enhance overall organizational excellence.
  • Develop and implement cultural safety promotional events and activities.
Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A college degree in a relevant field or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, with a substantial portion in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in driving safety initiatives within a complex organizational structure.
  • Experience in managing worker's compensation claims.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Ability to interpret and apply OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI standards to Daifuku operations.
  • Ability to pass all necessary background checks.
  • Valid driver s license with insurability under the employer s insurance policy.
  • Hybrid working arrangement includes office, home, and on-site support.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60%.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and hours.
  • Openness to off-site training and workshops.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic understanding of airport operations and maintenance.
  • Relevant safety certifications (e.g., ASP, CSP, COSM) are beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Velocity EHS and SDS software

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Expert knowledge in safety compliance concepts and hazard identification.
  • Intermediate proficiency in legal and risk management concepts.
  • Competence in data analysis and project management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with keen attention to detail.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is based in an office that may include a shop environment, exposing the employee to dust, moving machinery, and noise levels that comply with OSHA standards. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in fieldwork scenarios.
