Payroll Manager

Position Summary

The Payroll Manager will support the oversight and management of all aspects of our multi‑state weekly payroll operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and payment of all employees in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, tax regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.

This role requires experience with end‑to‑end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and integrity of accounting and internal controls. In addition, the payroll manager will handle financial recordkeeping and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The role will promote a high level of customer service to internal departments and external customers.

• Oversee daily payroll operations to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
• Develop, implement, and maintain organization‑wide payroll structures and systems.
• Lead a successful Payroll Team, cultivating a high‑performing environment.
• Coordinate collection, consolidation, and evaluation of payroll data; manage relevant reports.
• Communicate actively with Operations and HR to review cross‑departmental impacts.
• Maintain knowledge of best practices, legislation, and recommend policy changes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent.
• 5–7 years of experience managing a multi‑state payroll department preferred.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
• Experience with Unions, Collective Bargaining agreements, Prevailing wage, and Certified payroll reporting.
• Experience with cost accounting.
• Proficiency with major payroll systems; readiness to learn new systems (COINS a plus).
• Experience with ADP preferred.
• Self‑motivated, adaptable, strong work ethic.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel.
• Cross‑functional knowledge of business, payroll, and accounting.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to influence and lead.
• Able to analyze and resolve complex issues with high attention to detail.
• Process orientation with focus on quality and efficiency.
