Database Administrator, Data Engineer
Responsibilities:
· Lead the migration of databases from Sybase ASE/IQ to SQL Server, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
· Conduct detailed assessments of existing Sybase ASE/IQ databases, including schema, data, and stored procedures.
· Develop and implement migration plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management.
· Utilize SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) and other tools to automate and streamline the migration process.
· Modify and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects to ensure compatibility and performance in SQL Server.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including application developers, business analysts, and IT support, to ensure successful migration.
· Perform thorough testing and validation of migrated data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
· Provide post-migration support, including troubleshooting and performance tuning.
· Document migration processes, procedures, and best practices.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
· Proven experience with Sybase ASE/IQ and SQL Server, including database administration and development.
· Strong understanding of database migration methodologies and tools, particularly SSMA.
· Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, and stored procedure development.
· Experience in the capital markets or banking domain is highly desirable.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with other database technologies such as Oracle or Postgre
SQL.
· Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
