Job SummaryThe Student Assistant(s) will be conducting preliminary market research and performing administrative tasks supporting a faculty member’s progress on a grant proposal for an analytical instrument, the x-ray diffractometer (XRD). Such tasks may include but are not limited to: researching modern analytical applications (collecting and analyzing data), documenting potential regional external research partners, communicating with potential external partners via email or phone calls, and communicating with members of the UWG community both independently and with the supervision of the faculty member.
Required Qualifications- Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade‑point average.
- Major in geology, earth and environmental sciences, geography, or a related program, OR has experience with market research.
- Must be able to work continuously while looking at a desktop or laptop screen.
- Submit a short summary (100‑300 words) including why you are a good fit for this position.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Basic proficiency with Excel and data visualization.
- Basic background understanding of XRD methods.
