Building Services Associate - Events

Shift: Wednesday - Sunday, 2:30pm - 11:00pm
Job SummaryThis position provides custodial services support for university facilities and events. Performs a variety of duties in the care and cleaning of campus events, classroom buildings, residence halls, offices, athletic facilities, dining halls, or other university buildings. Work is guided by a daily schedule for general assignments. Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as removing heavy trash, moving furniture, operating cleaning equipment, and assisting Custodial Lead and Supervisor in delivering housekeeping supplies.
Perform housekeeping and floor maintenance tasks, event porter services, and special cleaning duties. Responsible for becoming familiar with all buildings and being receptive to additional assignments. May complete special project work such as pressure washing, cleaning light fixtures or windows using a scissor lift or ladder. Employee demonstrates an understanding of and maintains conditions that ensure a healthy and safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Works special events (varied hours and weekends) with minimal supervision. Recognizes and follows prescribed safety procedures and regulations. Identify and obtain required tools, equipment, materials, and supplies to do the job.
- Perform basic cleaning (sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, disinfecting, vacuuming, and/or replenishing supplies/products) to keep assigned working areas and events in a clean and orderly condition. Clean the interior and exterior of buildings, using the appropriate materials. Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the assigned storage areas. Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, extractors, pressure washers, walk behinds, scissor lifts, and ride‑on scrubbers.
Work with others to keep vehicles and employee work areas clean and orderly. - Provide porter services for campus events - conferences, athletics and special events (varied hours and weekends) with minimal supervision and determine the necessary tasks to be performed. Ensure areas remain pristine before, during, and after events with tasks to include restroom sanitation, trash removal, and quick spill responses. Sanitize common areas, lobbies, and high‑traffic spots throughout events. Respond to emergency needs such as spills, toilet overflows, water leaks, and other duties as assigned.
Assist Custodial Lead and Supervisor in delivering custodial supplies to buildings and collecting trash/recycling. - Recognize and follow prescribed safety procedures and regulations. Identify and obtain required tools, equipment, materials, and supplies needed to perform the job.
- Participate in department‑provided training and learning opportunities to develop work‑related skills and abilities. Complete all required training on a timely basis.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: Some high school classes along with basic knowledge of cleaning methods and materials. Understand and comply with safety regulations and handling hazardous materials in the performance of job duties (i.e. OSHA, EPA). A valid driver's license is required.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: Six months experience working in custodial or environmental services in a school, or hospital setting. Basic knowledge of the operation and use of equipment and tools used in the care and cleaning of buildings. Basic knowledge of custodial services, practices, techniques, and procedures.
$16 hourly. Paid on a bi‑weekly basis.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Knowledge: Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and materials. Must be able to learn procedures and retain information. Understand and comply with safety regulations and handling hazardous materials in the performance of job duties (i.e. OSHA, EPA).
