Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.

Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

Job Summary

This is a regular, part-time, non-benefited position that is responsible for providing general technical assistance to the Technical Director for the Townsend Center. The position will have high work volume primarily between mid-November through mid-May of each year, possibly through June. Work hours will vary each week according to production/event needs and will average approximately 10 hours per week over a 12 month period.

Work schedule includes some regular business hours, weekend and evening work. The work will follow the event schedule; this is critical to the success of the theater production.

This position will provide technical assistance for the Townsend Center to ensure the safe and effective operation of all events in the presence and absence of the Technical Director. The position will assist in the supervision of student and professional personnel. The Assistant also maintains and operates or manages the operation of all technical equipment. Success in this position relies on sold organizational skills, strong leadership qualities and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

A pro-active, patient attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with university staff and build a well-trained student crew is essential.

  • Maintain and organize technical equipment
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment for all students and clients
  • Operate fly gallery and perform rigging
  • Operate lighting, sound, video, and stage equipment. Teach students to do the same.
  • Production Planning and scheduling with a high level of attention to detail. Knowledge of contracts riders, agreements, hang plots, light plots, sound requirements.
  • Supervise students, employees and consultants during operation and production needs.
