Overview
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.
Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
- Serve as the Chief Medical Officer of Primary Care at the Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Healthcare System (ATLVAMC) and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC).
- May travel between campuses to perform duties and supervision; actual duty station is at the CBOC.
- Directly supervised by the Regional Director (RD) of Primary Care.
- Provide primary care for a patient panel; perform exams according to performance measure guidelines; dictate/type notes according to policy/procedure.
- Screen outpatients to determine need for further care; evaluate unscheduled patients under the physician’s care.
- Order diagnostic studies, carry out health promotion and disease prevention activities, initiate and expedite requests for consultations and scheduling of special tests and studies.
- May be on rotation to do extended hours once per month or less.
- Current board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
- 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.
- Must be able to travel between campuses as required by duties.
- Full-time with board certification; CME reimbursement possible up to $1,000 per year.
Work Schedule:
Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm.

- Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. - Paid Time Off: 50–55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays, and up to 5 days CME).
