Job SummaryThe Intermediate Photographer is responsible for creating high‑quality photographic and video content that advances UWG’s brand and storytelling goals. This position combines advanced technical skills in photography, videography, and post‑production with creative direction and project management. Working within University Communications and Marketing (UCM), the photographer concepts, produces, and delivers visual assets that reflect UWG’s mission, highlight the student experience, and strengthen the institution’s public image.
Responsibilities- Conceptualize, plan, and execute professional‑level photo and video shoots for a wide range of university needs, including academics, student life, athletics, and institutional events. Capture dynamic, brand‑aligned imagery that supports marketing campaigns, publications, and digital platforms. Work independently and collaboratively with creative teams, clients, and campus partners to ensure visual content meets project objectives and reflects UWG’s visual identity.
- Lead professional studio sessions, including faculty/staff headshots, portraiture, and special projects. Manage studio scheduling, lighting setup, and equipment maintenance to ensure consistent image quality. Conduct campus and off‑site photo shoots, overseeing logistics such as location scouting, permits, and production coordination.
- Perform advanced photo and video editing, color correction, retouching, and sound mixing to maintain brand consistency and visual quality. Organize, tag, and archive images and videos within UCM’s digital asset management system. Maintain backup protocols and metadata accuracy for all visual content.
- Participate in project pre‑production, including storyboarding, shot lists, and coordination with writers, designers, and marketing staff. Provide input on visual strategy and contribute to creative team meetings and campaign development. Manage production schedules, equipment inventory, and vendor relationships as needed.
Educational Requirements
High School / GED
Required ExperienceMinimum of three years of professional experience in photography, videography, or a closely related visual media field. Demonstrated experience producing high‑quality photo and video content for marketing, communications, or editorial use. Proficiency in industry‑standard photo and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects). Experience in both studio and location‑based photography and videography environments.
Preferred QualificationsEducational Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
ExperienceFive or more years of progressively responsible experience in photography, videography, or visual communications. Experience working in higher education, marketing, or agency environments. Demonstrated experience in creative direction, including concept development, storyboarding, and collaboration with design and communications teams. Familiarity with digital asset management systems (DAM), color management workflows, and large‑scale image archiving. Experience with lighting design, audio recording, and motion graphics integration.
ProposedSalary
$45,056.00 – $52,000.00 annually.
