Job Summary

The Event Assistant is an SA I (Student Assistant) position within University Recreation (UREC). Students in this position are provided with many opportunities to develop their skills in customer service, A/V equipment, teamwork, and arranging event setups. Students are given the opportunity to advance to SA II after a semester of working as an event assistant while working with a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and tear down events in the Campus Center's ballroom and meeting rooms
  • Manage and set up audio/visual equipment
  • Provide exemplary customer service
  • Work closely with campus partners and high‑profile campus‑wide events
Required Qualifications
  • Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.5 cumulative grade‑point average.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a team setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Technical knowledge.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, and/or lifting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 40+ pounds.
