Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CCU/ICU position requiring an IA or compact RN license, with ACLS and BLS certifications and night shift availability.
Responsibilities- Work in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) within an acute care hospital setting
- 6 CCU beds with the ability to flex and accommodate Med Surg and Peds patients as needed
- Nurse-to-patient ratios target 1:2, but may be up to 1:4 depending on patient acuity and census
- Care for critical care patients including CHF, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, DKA, and receive central line insertions, thoracentesis, and paracentesis procedures performed by providers
- 12-hour night shifts with a 6-week cyclic schedule; three 12-hour shifts per week starting at 7pm
- Weekend rotation required every third weekend, with some flexibility on days
- Holiday coverage will be required according to contract duration and season
- Floating to Med Surg and Peds as needed, with possibility to cross train in behavioral health and ER
- No hospitalist or intensivist in house; RT coverage during days, CCU nurse and house supervisor manage respiratory needs during nights and weekends
- No dedicated monitor techs; CCU nurses are responsible for telemetry monitoring
- Uses MEDITECH EMR system
- Main responsibilities include managing critically ill patients, titrating drips, and assuming charge duties when needed
- Expected to participate in unit quality projects and initiatives
- Dress code allows grey, black, pink, or white scrubs in any combination
- Physical med drawer keys must be checked out and returned each shift; lost keys are subject to a replacement fee
- Two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation provided

- Active IA or compact RN license required
- Minimum of 3 years of CCU experience and 1 year of travel nursing experience preferred
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications from AHA required
- Experience with titrating drips such as Cardizem, insulin, and nor epinephrine
- Must be able to care for both adult and pediatric populations as needed
- Comfort with respiratory equipment including CPAP, Bipap (V60), Vapotherm, and Hamilton ventilator
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Willing to float to Med Surg and Peds units
