We are looking for an innovative Automation Specialist to join our Iowa locations. The Automation Specialist is responsible for programming, configuring, optimizing, and maintaining industrial robotic systems and automated manufacturing equipment. This role supports production efficiency, quality improvement, and process innovation by designing and implementing robotic automation solutions across manufacturing operations.
Your Role in Our Mission:- Program, configure, and optimize industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, UR, etc.).
- Develop and modify robotic paths, logic sequences, and system parameters.
- Integrate robots with PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and peripheral equipment.
- Commission new automation systems and validate performance.
- Analyze cycle times and production metrics to improve throughput and efficiency.
- Identify automation opportunities to reduce waste and increase productivity.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives related to robotics and automation systems.
- Participate in automation project planning and equipment selection.
- Assist with layout design and cell configuration.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on new product introductions.
- Diagnose robotic and automation failures using root cause analysis.
- Provide advanced technical support to maintenance and production teams.
- Develop corrective action plans to prevent recurring issues.
- Create and maintain programming documentation and system diagrams.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards (OSHA, ANSI/RIA, ISO, etc.).
- Support risk assessments and safety audits related to robotic systems.
- Train technicians and operators on robotic systems.
- Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams.
- Lead or support automation projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 3–7 years of experience in industrial automation or robotics programming preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing environment required.
- Advanced knowledge of industrial robotic programming.
- Strong understanding of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
- Experience with vision systems and sensors.
- Understanding of industrial networking and communication protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Project management and documentation skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound technical judgment.
