Data Engineer - SQL & Java

🚀 Data Engineer (SQL & Java) – Fully Remote (UK) | Global Fintech

Our client is building next‑generation data capabilities to power a merchant‑first ecosystem — and they are looking for a hands‑on Data Engineer with strong database fundamentals and production‑grade engineering experience.

As a Data Engineer, you will:

• Design, create, and maintain scalable data pipelines
• Build and optimise database schemas
  , tables, and cloud‑native workflows
• Develop reliable ETL/ELT processes
• Write and tune high-performance SQL across production systems
• Transform and model data for analytics, reporting, and finance
• Work closely with BI, Finance, and Engineering teams
• Own deliverables end‑to‑end in a fast‑moving fintech environment

We are looking for someone with 1–3 years of hands‑on experience who can demonstrate:

• Creating databases and tables
• Building database objects — not just querying
• Advanced SQL
  , ideally on Oracle or PostgreSQL
• Optimisation and performance tuning At least 1 year of Java programming experience
• Collections, streams, filters
• Groovy experience is a bonus
• Experience building and maintaining production data pipelines
• Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Airbyte)
• Exposure to SOAP/REST APIs and cloud object storage (S3, Blob, Oracle Bucket)
• Experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift) & DBT

• Oracle systems or cloud experience
• Automation/testing frameworks

If you don’t match the above but instead have:

• 3–4 years as a Data Engineer

• Experience working within a fintech environment
