Job DescriptionSeeking a Laboratory Analyst to join the Water Resources team at Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA). The ideal candidate is a team player with strong work ethic, adaptability, excellent communication skills, and experience in gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC‑MS). This position requires a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with the team to achieve organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure water produced at the treatment facility is safe to drink and meets all regulatory requirements.
- Perform quality‑control procedures on all analytical parameters to ensure reliability and accuracy of results.
- Calibrate and maintain analytical equipment.
- Collect regulatory samples within the system.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including preparing and submitting regulatory reports.
- Maintain good relationships with co‑workers, community neighbors, and customers; provide excellent customer service.
- Associate degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum two years’ laboratory experience in water testing, or equivalent education and experience.
- Strong preference for GC‑MS skills and experience with advanced analytical equipment.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
- Ability to meet safety‑sensitive position requirements and physical duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds (bi‑annual physical).
- Salary Range: $56,036 – $84,053
