Overview

The Accessories Buying Specialist role seeks a professional with a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams.

Responsibilities

Purchase Order Management

  • Execute the complete purchase order upload process for both preseason and in-season orders, including those for the distribution center, retail stores and special events or expos.
  • Provide ad hoc support for purchase orders, coordinating closely with the distribution center and retail store teams.
  • Collaborate with the data management team to address system needs such as product creation, uploads to  and other technical requirements.
  • Maintain meticulous records of open orders for accessories, assisting the Senior Buyer with managing the launch calendar, ship date reminders and other key deadlines.
  • Facilitate the creation of purchase orders and UPC uploads for events and expos.
  • Support the handling of in-season at once orders, as directed by the Senior Buyer.

Inventory Management

  • Communicate new seasonal SKUs, process PO uploads and manage new vendor setups in coordination with relevant teams.
  • Assist the Senior Buyer with executing and managing store transfers, vendor stock swaps and return to vendor programs.
  • Work with accounts payable to coordinate return to vendor programs, ensuring accurate reconciliation of RAs and credit memos.
  • Maintain markdown calendar and seasonal MAP updates as needed, communicating action items to the retail store team as needed.
  • Support the allocation of inventory to stores for accessories from the distribution center.

Sales And Performance Analysis

  • Generate and analyze regular reports on sales trends, inventory levels, DC order fulfillment and vendor performance to provide insights to the Senior Buyer, and other key members of the team.
  • Assist in creating comprehensive recaps for key events and expos related to accessories.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of purchases, returns and vendor communications.
  • Assist in budget management and track expenses related to buying activities to ensure fiscal responsibility and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, or inventory management roles.
  • Experience with sales reporting and analysis, using tools like Excel, ERP systems (Netsuite is preferred, not required) or inventory management software.
  • Previous experience working with distribution centers, vendors and retail operations is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Detailed - oriented, ensuring accurate record - keeping and management of purchase orders and inventory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills to coordinate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and balance competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with UPC uploads, SKU management and vendor set up process.
