Overview
The Senior Manager, Learning and Development
, is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive learning strategies to enhance employee skills, performance, and career development. This role involves designing, delivering, and evaluating people and training programs, leading organizational development initiatives, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. This position will be expected to come in and learn about existing programs, make enhancements to those programs, and build a learning strategy for our Retail, Store Support (HQ), and Distribution Center work forces as we work to build and grow Fleet Feet’s talent bench.
This role is highly collaborative, and we’re looking for someone who enjoys driving alignment, proactively over communicating with key stakeholders, and actively contributing to both the process and the solutions.
This position is hybrid, with the expectation of being in the office 2-3 days per week.

Responsibilities- Own and enhance existing programs (Mentorship, Lunch and Learns, Employee Resource Groups, Performance Management, Manager Training, Employee Engagement, Talent Development) and design impactful training to support leadership, technical skills, and professional development.
- Deliver training sessions in person and virtually as needed.
- Align with and execute on Fleet Feet’s annual and long-term plan, while understanding business needs shift.
- Complete a needs analysis to identify gaps.
- Create and implement a strategic learning and development plan aligned with needs analysis, organizational goals, and Fleet Feet’s strategic roadmap and priorities.
- Identify current and future skills gaps and recommend learning to address them.
- Implement programs to develop emerging leaders and enhance leadership capabilities across all levels, using Talent Review insights and data.
- Partner with senior leadership to identify and address leadership gaps and identify learning opportunities to close those gaps.
- Enhance and provide tools and resources for employees to own their career growth.
- Lead and execute our internal talent assessment process, including managing logistics, facilitating meetings, partnering with leaders to assess talent, and synthesizing data to strengthen our talent bench.
- Collaborate with internal teams and managers across the organization to integrate learning initiatives with performance management processes.
- Support the development of coaching and feedback capabilities within the organization and look to revamp the current Performance Review process (forms, cadence, etc).
- Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of learning initiatives.
- Use feedback and data to identify themes and improve programs continuously.
- Manage the learning and development budget effectively.
- Responsible for vendor relationships and negotiating contracts for external training services.
- Work closely with HR Operations, the HR Department, Retail Operations, and other cross-functional teams to align learning initiatives with organizational values and priorities.

- Communicates effectively by understanding audiences, tailoring messages to meet their needs, and proactively sharing clear, timely information to build alignment and trust across teams.
- This position will be an individual contributor with the potential to become a people leader in the future.
- 7+ years of experience in learning and development, 1-2 years of people management experience is a plus
- Expertise in design, curriculum development, and program evaluation.
- Solid understanding of adult learning principles and methodologies.
- Proficiency with learning technologies and tools.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Experience in budget management and vendor negotiation.
