We are a nonprofit dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment for youth. Our after‑school programs emphasize academic success, character development, and healthy lifestyles.
Position: Part‑time (20 hours) Monday‑Friday during the school year; schedule for Summer Camp will be determined.
Location: Vernon Hills, IL.
Salary: $20.00–$25.00 per hour.
Under the supervision of the Site Director, the Assistant Director will approve the plan and ensure the implementation of “Experiences” in structured program spaces. Specialized content areas include Education, SEL, Cultural Arts, Sports & Fitness, STEM, and other site‑specific “Experiences.” The Assistant Director mentors staff in one‑on‑one planning meetings and models leadership within their cohort group while supporting new YDP staff.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare Youth for Success
- Promote program participation.
- Provide guidance and role modeling to youth.
- Maintain a safe environment through clear rules and expectations.
- Approve and coach staff on implementing age‑appropriate activities and experiences.
- Ensure safety, quality, and cleanliness at the Club at all times.
- Hold weekly one‑on‑one planning meetings with the team.
- Create a weekly shopping list with YDP for supplies via the Walmart pick‑up app and/or Amazon every Thursday.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings to foster a collaborative work environment.
- Inspect program areas daily for safety precautions before youth entry.
- Monitor youth during both structured and unstructured experience areas.
- Organize and/or participate in special events.
- Supervise during off‑site field trips when required.
- Assist other sites if staffing support is needed.
- Upload Food Service Documentation daily.
- Perform other duties assigned or necessary in the Site Director’s absence.
Assistant Directors must possess a valid driver’s license to operate the club van and have the ability to anticipate, identify, and solve practical problems, interpret written or oral instructions, complete required paperwork, and professionally handle conflict.
