Material Handler

Department: Warehouse, Flavors
Location: Carol Stream, IL
Type: Full-time

The Material Handler is responsible for safely and efficiently moving, loading, and unloading materials within the manufacturing plant and warehouse. This role ensures accurate handling of raw materials, finished goods, and supplies to support production and shipping operations. The position requires adherence to safety standards, proper equipment operation, and maintaining inventory accuracy.

• Operate Sit down & Stand Up forklift
• Load/unload trucks
• Verify quantity on the pallet and pallet counts
• Read warehouse instructions and follow oral instructions to move materials or containers
• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand
• Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit
• Convey materials from storage to work sites to designated areas
• Secure lifting attachments to the material handling equipment and convey the load to the destination
• Count and record products for shipment from a warehouse instruction worksheet
• Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or mark information on cases, pallets, or other containers
• Locate/count inventory using location logs and submit them regularly
• Other duties may be assigned

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 1+ years related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have the ability to read and write English

• Become forklift certified

• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Must be able to wear required PPE such as scrubs, hair net, lab coat, and facemask
• Ability to work in a packaging area with a moderate powder substance in the air, with or without a respirator
• Ability to work above the shoulders
• Frequent squatting, bending, twisting, and bi-lateral wrist movement
• Ability to work around a variety of smells and aromas
• Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require
