Purpose of the RoleThe Material Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to provide prompt, professional responses for requisition requests, manage the purchasing of store items, and drive cost‑reduction initiatives on store room spending. The role ensures adequate inventory of repair parts and supply items is maintained by analyzing the needs of production and support activities.
Job Functions- Maintains accurate receiving and issue documentation and resolves discrepancies by interfacing with accounts payable and vendors as required.
- Regularly reviews store‑item inventory records for accuracy of costs, nomenclature, minimum/maximum data, lead times, usage, duplications, obsolescence, and pertinent supplier data, maximizing effective use of physical space.
- Initiates routine periodic cycle counts and reconciles physical count/system count discrepancies in Stores.
- Enters receiving, issuing, and miscellaneous transactions into the Computerized Inventory Management System.
- Reviews ordering requirements, initiates purchase requisitions for approval, converts requisitions to purchase orders, and places orders through SAP or SRM.
- Determines new/old items to stock, establishes reorder points and reorder quantities based on past usage and team input.
- Generates reports based on data accumulated through SAP.
- Completes stores physical inventories as needed.
- Assists in developing operating guidelines, procedures, and forms for efficient storeroom operations.
- Records work orders, tracks preventive maintenance records, and tracks parts for outstanding equipment needs.
- Ensures compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies including GMPs and sanitation procedures. Maintains a clean, organized work area in support of SQF/5S and related company standards.
- Supports GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
- Participates in LEAN, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Performs all other duties as assigned and strives to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Stops any process that does not meet food safety or quality requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong administrative, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Preferred: SAP experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and self‑motivation.
- Follow all plant rules, processes, hygiene, and allergen procedures related to Safe Quality Foods production.
- Report any potential unsafe conditions that could affect food safety or quality.
- Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions as required.
- Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
$50,880.00 – $63,600.00
