Position Summary

The primary role is to assist in the recruitment, organization, and monitoring of data for students selected and enrolled in academic support courses (i.e., small learning community). The individual will oversee various supports and services provided to low‑income and academically needy students. No benefits are paid by the grant. The position is for hours worked beyond the normal school day. Grant funded stipends for licensed staff are typically payable in 20 equal installments starting with the 9/5 payroll and ending 6/20.

Qualifications
  • Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) for teaching grades 9-12.
  • Knowledge and practices as it relates to supporting all students’ ability to learn.
  • ESL or Bilingual – Spanish speaking preferred.
Reports To

Assistant Principal of Instruction and District Title I Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the recruitment, organization, and monitoring of data for students selected and enrolled in academic support courses.
  • Maintain the highest level of ethical and professional demeanor with students and staff consistent with the Sexual Harassment, Equal Educational Opportunity, Ethics, Use of Electronic Media, and other appropriate policies of the district.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys and electronic media.
  • Ability to write professional communications.
  • Ability to present information effectively and to respond to questions from individuals and groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form.
  • Ability to complete mathematical operations and apply concepts of basic mathematics.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to maintain current job skills as directed, especially in technology‑related activities.
  • Ability to perform essential duties with an awareness of school district requirements and School Board policies.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Employee may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds such as reference books.
  • Employee frequently required to stand, walk, operate duplicating machines and computer equipment; reach with hands and arms; and will frequently repeat actions with the same hand, arm, or finger motion such as typing.
  • Employee must sit and talk or hear regularly.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus; withstand long‑term use of video display terminals.
  • Noise level is usually moderate; pace of work fast.
  • Work is usually conducted at one job site; employee may attend meetings, conferences, or workshops at other sites as assigned.
