Job Overview
Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides support and skills training to people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a residential setting and within the community.
Birch House is located on the outskirts of Carmel off Route 301, surrounded by beautiful reservoirs. It is a cozy two‑story home of 11 very active ladies. They range in age from their 30s to 80s. All of the ladies have different interests but one thing they all have in common is that they love to go out and shop! Whether to department stores at the mall or the Dollar Tree, the ladies enjoy being out and about.
They also love to go out to a variety of restaurants and even enjoy days at the park. While home they enjoy relaxing while watching TV, cooking, and doing arts and crafts. The ladies have different goals that they are working towards and could use your support in accomplishing. A high school diploma or GED is desired. Post‑high‑school education in Human Services is a definite plus. An acceptable NYS driver’s license and basic computer knowledge are a must. An informative, paid new‑hire orientation is provided in a comfortable learning environment. Training will also include van certification, SCIP, First Aid/CPR, and medication administration certification.
Hours30 hours weekly – Thursday / Friday 2p‑10p, Saturday 8a‑10p
Starting Salary$19.44 – $21.39 per hour plus any additional shift differentials as applicable
Minimum Requirements- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Acceptable NYS Driver’s License
- Computer skills
