General Purpose

The Retail Associate ensures customers receive a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, respects fellow associates, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The role may involve additional tasks as business needs require.

Essential Functions
  • Practice safe behaviors and maintain a high level of safety awareness on the sales floor.
  • Keep egress clear, report unsafe conditions, and promote a secure environment.
  • Show respect and courtesy to all customers and associates.
  • Assist customers at the register, answer questions, and provide prompt, courteous service.
  • Respond immediately to customer service calls and involve leadership when necessary.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Complete daily sizing and recovery tasks per company best practice.
  • Expedite new merchandise to the sales floor, merchandise per presentation guidelines, and maintain brand familiarity.
  • Understand loss prevention programs, shortage highway, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential and cash information, ensuring integrity and honesty.
  • Follow Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock policies for proper processing and disposal.
  • Handle cash, check, charge‑card transactions accurately and follow related procedures.
  • Execute store best practices efficiently to maximize productivity.

Qualifications & Special Skills Required
  • Effective communication with customers, associates, and leadership in a friendly, respectful, and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations common in retail.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the store all working time.
  • Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Occasionally push, pull, or lift more than 25 lbs.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and assigned supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling, or lifting more than 20 lbs.
