Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in a general surgery, urology, gynecology, and bariatric surgery unit requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and night shift availability.

Job Details

• 5C is a 31-bed Med/Surg unit with a concentration in general surgery, urology, gynecology, and bariatric surgery,

• Patient ratio is 1:6,

• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30,

• Floating is required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital,

• Charting system:
Cerner,

Job Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required (must be in hand prior to start),

• Current BLS certification required (AHA or RQI accepted),

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required,

• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited university required,

• Proficiency with post-surgical care (3/4 level) for bariatric surgery, thyroidectomy, bowel obstruction, and CBI required,

• Experience with urology and GYN post-surgical care required,

• Experience with general surgery post care required,

• Cerner EMR experience required,

• 2 supervisor references required for consideration,

• SSN and DOB required for consideration,

• Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this Med/Surg position,

• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays,

• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO may be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility approval,

• Any current or former permanent or PRN employee of IU Health must have a 12-month break in employment before being eligible to apply as a traveler,

• Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset travel eligibility; out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break prior to reaching their year mark,

• Indiana RN license holders are not permitted to work at IU Health facilities in this Med/Surg role (Periop, Allied, and Ambulatory RN positions are exempt from this restriction),
