Our IU Health North Operating Room (OR) supports both adult and pediatric patients, offering a high‑variety surgical experience. From general surgery, ortho (including joints and spine), urology, ENT, breast reductions, gynecology, robotics, and vascular—to healthy pediatric cases supported in partnership with Riley anesthesiologists, no two days look the same.

You’ll care for patients undergoing procedures such as bowel resections, hernia repairs, gastric bypass, mastectomies, reconstructions, joint replacements, spine surgeries, tonsils, ear tubes, appendectomies, and more, everything except neuro and cardiac.

Join our highly collaborative surgical team where nurses work closely with surgeons, anesthesia staff, CSTs, and OR assistants to provide exceptional care across a wide range of specialties. Nurses care for one patient at a time, allowing for focused, high‑quality care without additional family‑management pressures during procedures. Team members often work together for full shifts, fostering strong relationships and a supportive culture that keeps many staff returning.

Referral Bonus Eligible

Shifts
  • Full-time DAY shift, 6:30A-7P
    ; 10- or 12-hour shifts with a 6:30A start
  • Part-time DAY shift, 6:30A start
  • Full-time NIGHT shift, 6:30P-7A
  • SWODAY shift, Saturday and Sunday 6:30A to 7P OR can be Full-time and work one weekday
  • On call requirements are weeknights from 6:30P to 6:30A and weekend days 6:30A – 6:30P and weekend nights 6:30P to 6:30A
Nursing skills gained on this unit
  • Communication skills as a part of the multi-disciplinary surgical care team
  • Use of state-of-the-art surgical equipment (first facility in Indiana to receive the Intuitive da Vinci SP robot)

Qualifications
  • Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN);
    Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Education:

    The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
