Job Summary

Seeking a highly motivated individual to join the IOA team as Marketing & Communications Manager. The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that drive brand awareness, lead generation, and revenue growth. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution. In this role, you will oversee brand positioning, marketing campaigns, digital performance, and external partners while working closely with leadership to align marketing efforts with organizational objectives.

This position reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

Communications:

  • Advises the executive director and staff on internal (members) and external (sponsors & public) communications opportunities.
  • Plans, designs, writes, and publishes IOA newsletters, brochures, email blasts, and other publications.
  • Prepares and distributes monthly press releases.
  • Collects information and prepares scripts for IOA award presentations.
  • Manages the IOA’s website and keeps website content updated.
  • Arranges for videographers and photographers as needed.
  • Obtains quotes and arranges all IOA printing.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Marketing:

  • Advises the executive director on corporate sponsorship strategies and opportunities.
  • Prepares brochures, mailers, and online materials promoting IOA’s convention, seminars, and other events using Adobe InDesign or similar product.
  • Prepares paper and electronic registration forms for IOA events.
  • Manages all IOA sponsorship programs, including IOA’s Corporate Partner Program, the Patron Sponsor Program, and all continuing education speaker and event sponsors.
  • Prepares and distributes annual brochure detailing IOA sponsorship opportunities for corporate entities.
  • Prepares, distributes, and collects sponsorship agreements.
  • Communicate regularly with corporate sponsors and sales representatives to ensure sponsors and representatives recognize the value of their sponsorship.
  • Arranges, coordinates, and serves as onsite contact for IOA trade shows and sponsors exhibition opportunities.
  • Designs and orders all signage for IOA events.
  • Assists with meeting planning, including but not limited to banquet event orders and site selection to accommodate vendors.
  • Oversees and implements social media tactics that align with predetermined strategies.
  • Mission

    The Indiana Optometric Association (IOA) is dedicated to actively supporting Indiana Doctors of Optometry by positively impacting advocacy, continuing education, clinical practice, and networking interests.

    Qualifications
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Experience in a small or mid-sized association or company.
  • Proven success in building and executing integrated marketing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, analytics, and marketing technology.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Marketing experience, including leadership responsibility preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign preferred.
  • Regular work hours are Monday-Friday from 8am–5pm Eastern Time. Work remotely with required in-person meetings weekly or more frequently as needed in Hamilton and Marion, Indiana, counties. This position requires travel to four conferences/meetings in Indiana for a total of 7-12 days of travel annually.
