The Security Director is primarily responsible for supervising the day-to‑day security operations of assigned client sites.
Responsibilities of the Security Director include but are not limited to:
- Manage a team of Security Officers, Site and Shift Supervisors including hiring/selection, scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, development and support.
- Ensure the client site is provided with high quality security services to protect people and property.
- Build, improve and maintain effective relationships with both client and employees.
- Coordinate necessary support services to effectively manage client site to meet or exceed financial and operational goals and provide quality customer service.
- Handle any escalated security issues or emergency situations appropriately.
- Conduct annual reviews for on site staff.
- Monitors the quality of staff performance including coordinating and conducting exit interviews, assisting with unemployment claims review of disciplinary actions, recommendations for suspension or termination as well as ensuring a regular performance appraisal program for all staff.
- Coordinates and documents performance tracking of all staff personnel.
- Maintain and ensure the integrity of personnel files and workforce management systems working with Account/Operations Managers and HR department, as necessary.
- Support HR department in review of involuntary terminations including union grievances and appeals.
- Supports Director of Operations and HR in hiring, training and on‑boarding.
- Compile and prepare reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities and account trends.
- Responsible for tracking company equipment in the field including technology, vehicles, etc. and ensuring company equipment is utilized in accordance with applicable policies.
- Stays current on federal, state and local CBA guidelines relative our services.
- Supports the organization’s culture, processes, practices and systems to ensure that company and its clients.
- Prepare correspondence and memos as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Benefits:
Education and/or
Experience:
Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement Management or related field and/or equivalent experience/education preferred. Minimum of seven years of managerial and policy making experience in the law enforcement or contract security field. Experience level to include extensive internal contacts within the local law enforcement community.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Ability to obtain a valid security license (if required by the state). Professional Certifications in Security Management; CPP or similar certifications preferred.
Computer
Skills:
Ability to create and manage budgets, budget variance reports and other reports in Excel. Experience with workforce management systems and scheduling systems preferred.
Language
Skills:
Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Bi‑lingual considered a plus. Must possess excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, financial and time management skills with the ability of concisely and effectively address questions while providing subject matter expertise on policy to ownership and management.
