Fitzgerald Hospitality Group (FHG) is a multi-brand hospitality and events company operating event venues, catering brands, floral and design studios, and restaurant concepts across Indiana. As we scale, consistency in operations, leadership, and people practices is critical.

We are hiring an Operations- and People-focused Chief of Staff to partner directly with the CEO and ensure execution, accountability, and team performance across the organization.

Position Overview

The Chief of Staff – Operations & People serves as the CEO’s operational right hand and internal enforcer of standards. This role is deeply embedded in day-to-day operations while also owning key people systems that support performance, accountability, and culture.

This position bridges operations, leadership, and HR execution. It is not a traditional HR role, but it does carry responsibility for ensuring that people processes are consistent, compliant, and aligned with FHG’s expectations.

Key Responsibilities Operational Execution & Oversight
  • Maintain real-time visibility into daily operations across all FHG brands
  • Identify operational breakdowns and drive resolution
  • Ensure SOPs, service standards, and brand expectations are consistently executed
  • Be on-site at venues and operations as needed
Manager Accountability & Performance
  • Hold General Managers, Venue Managers, and Department Heads accountable to goals, labor targets, and execution standards
  • Track performance issues and require corrective action plans
  • Support hiring, training, and performance management of leadership roles
People Operations & HR Oversight
  • Partner with payroll, benefits providers, and external HR resources to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Oversee consistent hiring practices, onboarding, and training standards across brands
  • Support performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and terminations in coordination with leadership
  • Ensure employee documentation, policies, and handbooks are followed and updated
  • Identify and mitigate employee relations risks before they escal
Labor, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Monitor labor usage, scheduling efficiency, and overtime trends
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, scheduling policies, and workplace standards
  • Act as point of escalation for sensitive personnel issues
Financial & Labor Discipline
  • Review labor percentages, food costs, and operating margins
  • Partner with leadership to correct inefficiencies and cost overruns
  • Ensure staffing levels align with business needs and financial targets
Systems, SOPs & Organizational Structure
  • Standardize operational and people processes where possible
  • Clarify roles, reporting structures, and accountability across brands
  • Drive adoption of tools for scheduling, training, and performance tracking
Special Projects & Growth Support
  • Support new venue launches, pop-ups, and seasonal concepts
  • Own high-priority initiatives that cross operations and people functions
  • Act as CEO proxy on urgent operational or personnel matters when needed
Authority & Reporting Structure
  • Reports directly to the CEO
  • Authorized to:
  • Set operational and people-related deadlines
  • Require reporting from managers
  • Participate in hiring, performance management, and termination decisions
  • Escalate operational or HR risks directly to the CEO
Qualifications
  • 7–12+ years in hospitality operations, multi-unit leadership, or senior operations roles
  • Direct experience managing people, labor models, and performance issues
  • Working knowledge of HR compliance, employee relations, and labor laws
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and leadership presence
  • Comfortable operating on-site and in high-accountability environments

Pay: $60,866.22 - $73,301.25 per year
