Schedule:
3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, including every other weekend
Position Summary:
Responsible for the maintenance, appearance, and safety of floor surfaces throughout the facility. This role supports a clean, welcoming, and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors through expert floor care practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform ad hoc, scheduled, and project-based floor care using advanced equipment and techniques
- Operate specialized equipment including auto‑scrubbers, high‑speed burnishers, buffers, and carpet extractors
- Strip, wax, polish, and deep clean a variety of flooring types (e.g., VCT, terrazzo, tile, carpet)
- Execute daily and rotational floor maintenance schedules and assist in developing project-based cleaning plans
- Coordinate floor care activities with Environmental Services (EVS) and clinical teams to minimize service disruption
- Ensure proper safety signage, infection prevention standards, and secure work zones are in place
- Conduct basic equipment maintenance and minor floor repairs; report conditions requiring advanced attention
- Communicate work area impacts to relevant departments and collaborate with EVS team members to prevent overlap or delays
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent years of experience is preferred.
- No previous experience is required. Floor care experience is preferred. If no experience, then must pass competency within 2 months of hire date.
- Requires an Indiana driver’s license and proof of insurance.
- Requires the ability to pass a floor care competency assessment.
- Must be able to use floor care equipment, including but not limited to: auto-scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, and carpet extractors.
- Must be able to wear protective equipment and clothing in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements.
- Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, reach, bend, squat, climb ladders, and lift or carry 50 lbs. or more.
