This position will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI solutions to enhance ACES operations, optimizing business processes, and driving data‑driven decision making. The AI Engineer serves as a technical expert and educator, working across business units to identify opportunities for AI/ML technologies, including large language models and generative AI capabilities, working across business units to implement clearly defined use cases under the guidance of senior technical leadership.
This role requires strong technical skills in AI/ML technologies, the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions, and excellent communication skills to educate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. The AI Engineer ensures all solutions maintain high standards of accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance while advancing ACES' strategic technology goals.
- Design, develop, and deploy artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions to address business needs and operational challenges.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on AI/ML technologies, techniques, and best practices across the organization.
- Develop and deliver AI/ML education programs and training sessions for employees at all levels to build organizational capability and understanding.
- Collaborate with business units to identify, assess, and prioritize opportunities for AI/ML applications that deliver measurable value.
- Build, train, test, and optimize machine learning models to ensure accuracy, reliability, and performance in production environments.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to create and maintain data pipelines, infrastructure, and tools necessary to support AI/ML development and deployment.
- Develop automation solutions using AI/ML techniques to improve workflow efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Research emerging AI/ML technologies and methodologies, evaluating their potential application to ACES operations.
- Document AI/ML processes, models, and methodologies to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability.
- Implement responsible AI practices including model validation, bias detection, explainability, and ethical considerations.
- Monitor deployed AI/ML solutions, track performance metrics, and implement improvements as needed.
- Partner with IT teams including Development, Infrastructure, and Security to ensure proper integration and deployment of AI/ML solutions.
- Present findings, recommendations, and results to technical and non‑technical audiences in clear, understandable formats.
- Evaluate and recommend AI/ML platforms, tools, and services that align with organizational needs and capabilities.
- Stay current with industry trends, research, and advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Foster relationships with external AI/ML communities, academic institutions, and industry partners to enhance organizational knowledge.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on AI/ML concepts and implementation approaches.
- Adhere to and support all ACES corporate policies and comply with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to NERC, FERC, and relevant state regulations as applicable to the position.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field required.
- 1-3 years of experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data science or equivalent.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used for AI/ML development such as Python, R, or similar.
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical methods, and data analysis techniques.
- Experience with data transformation and analysis tools including SQL, pandas, Num Py, or equivalent.
