Responsibilities

The Phlebotomist provides general laboratory services, including specimen collection using routine venipuncture, order entry, blood‑component preparation, pre‑analytic processing of specimens, and related clerical tasks such as entering orders into the system, answering phone calls, and managing faxes. The incumbent may also be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens, and may serve on committees or projects contributing to departmental functions.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program, or experience in a laboratory setting, or coursework in biological, chemical, or related science.
  • Valid Indiana Operator’s license and a clean driving record for the past three years (may be required).
  • Understanding of Indiana traffic laws.
  • Proficiency with computers.
  • Strong telephone skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Capacity to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
