Overview
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) at IDEXX, a leading veterinary diagnostic company. You will perform laboratory testing to help veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. What You’ll Do- You will use automated analyzers, microscopes and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases in support of veterinary treatment.
- You will perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal or biopsy samples received in the lab daily.
- You will set up and run lab tests and read and release results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- You may specialize in one or more areas:
- Hematology:
Testing blood cell components, including microscopic evaluation of blood smears and counting techniques. - Chemistry / Endocrinology:
Testing blood and body fluids for various analytes using automated instrumentation. - Urinalysis:
Analysis of urine with chemical and microscopic evaluation using automated and manual methods. - Cytology:
Processing blood and body fluids for microscopic examination; slide preparation and staining with manual and automated counting. - Immunology / Serology:
Testing for antibodies or antigens to detect viral and bacterial diseases.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in a science-related field is preferred.
- Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) is a plus, but not required.
- Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers) is preferred.
- A positive attitude and the ability to contribute energy to the lab environment.
- Ability to work in a team and maintain focus on details to work reliably and precisely.
- Strong sense of teamwork and responsibility.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of working in a lab (standing and sitting for extended periods, phone/computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50 lb, and vision requirements).
- Awareness that there is potential exposure to biohazards, zoonotic agents, and hazardous chemicals in a laboratory setting.
- Hourly rates targeting: $22.00 per hour

- Hours:
Monday – Friday, 10:30 am – 5:00 pm - Shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs
