Overview

As our Market Design Engineer or Economist
, you will be on a team responsible for engineering, analytical work, and studies on overall power market and operation performance, efficiency, behaviors, and the impact of market rules. You will also investigate and make improvements to market models and algorithms.

Additionally, as our Market Design Engineer or Economist
, you will be part of a team that will propose, design, develop, and evaluate new wholesale electricity market design initiatives and assess impacts to market structure due to industry evolution. You will have the opportunity to influence outcomes and improve processes.

In one year, you will know you are successful if you can perform engineering, statistical, and economic analysis on system and market operations, market products, behavior, and outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering, statistical, and economic analysis on system and market operations, market products, behavior, and outcomes.
  • Understand the mechanics of the MISO market systems and how they fit together.
  • Coordinate internally and externally to communicate results, resolve issues, and implement improvements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering technology, electrical and computer engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, electronics and computer engineering technology, economics, or mathematics.
  • At least five years of job-related experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience in a deregulated wholesale electricity market or utility experience in power system analysis & operation, software development, statistical and econometric analysis, market analysis and design, optimization algorithms, or related fields.

Salary

The base salary compensation range for this role is $115,000–$140,000 USD annually. Salaries may vary based on location, competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience in accordance with state/local pay transparency requirements.
