Construction Project Manager

Schedule: Monday-Friday (with occasional evenings/weekends as needed based on project demands)

Position Summary

Sher Contracting is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage estimating, permitting, subcontractors, scheduling, budgets, and day-to-day project execution while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and confident managing multiple moving parts across field operations, vendors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manage project estimates, budgets, and cost projections
  • Review plans/specifications and assist with scope development during pre-construction
  • Coordinate and pull permits and ensure compliance with local codes and regulations
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and timelines
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors, including scope alignment, scheduling, and performance oversight
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and ongoing coordination with clients, field teams, and trade partners
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and resolve issues quickly to avoid delays
  • Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
  • Conduct site visits to monitor quality, safety, and production progress
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client expectations
  • Support billing/invoicing documentation and project closeout requirements
  • Maintain strong communication with internal leadership and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in construction project management (commercial, industrial, or related projects preferred)
  • Proven experience with estimating, permitting, and subcontractor coordination
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, budgeting, and project controls
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines at the same time
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with project management software is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if site travel is required)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in commercial/industrial construction environments
  • Knowledge of local permitting processes and inspections
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Estimating software experience (Bluebeam, Plan Swift, Procore, Buildertrend, or similar)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
