This new position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to use advanced vascular access skills to support patients receiving systemic anti‑cancer treatment. The successful applicant will have experience placing central venous access devices such as PICCs and will be responsible for scoping opportunities to build a community of practice, overseeing training and competencies of colleagues, and leading policy development, governance and educational packages.

  • Provide a service for patients requiring a central venous access device (CVAD) to receive systemic anti‑cancer treatment (SACT).
  • Work at an advanced clinical level, demonstrating professional autonomy and making critical judgments.
  • Provide support to multidisciplinary teams to develop a CVAD service available at all acute sites.
  • Be or become a registered non‑medical independent prescriber, or prepare to undertake this qualification.
  • Provide/oversee nurse‑led follow‑up for patients with a CVAD.
  • Perform clinical assessment and history taking, recognise complications related to CVAD and ensure appropriate management.
  • Provide nurse‑led consultations to discuss CVAD options, obtain consent, and agree a management plan.
  • Work autonomously, manage own caseload, and liaise closely with the treating team and consultant.
  • Expand the Vascular Access Service across other clinical pathways and provide governance and boundaries to colleagues in the community.

Welsh language:
The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable. Non‑Welsh speakers may be considered, with training provided.
