You are expected to be an integral part of a team, providing mechanical support to the Range. Fabrication, machining, general mechanical engineering and problem‑solving skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively.

Perform the duties of a Mechanical Engineer within the Engineering section based at Pendine, assisting in the production/maintenance of mechanical targets, equipment and components. Tasks range from machining, fabrication (welding), mechanical engineering of items, and operating the mechanical workshop equipment necessary to perform these tasks safely.

• Ensure that the manufacture and maintenance of the Range equipment is carried out in line with the works schedule.
• Interpret and work from engineering drawings.
• Operate the mechanical workshop's equipment.
• Maintain general knowledge of health, safety and environmental issues with a good awareness of their implementation.
• Work safely with minimal supervision.

• Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or similar training (Services mechanical engineering training or Mechanical NVQ training).
• Demonstrable Mechanical Engineering skills.
• B/TEC ONC Mechanical Engineering.
• Mechanical workshop experience.
• Fabrication/welding skills and general machining operations.
• Flexible and willing to work within a team.
• Good communication skills.
