Are you a patient, compassionate and dedicated individual looking to make a real difference in a child’s education? We are seeking a 1:1 ASD Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive school in Carmarthen.
About the RoleWe are looking for someone to provide individualised support for a primary-aged pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The ideal candidate will help the learner access the curriculum, regulate emotions, build communication skills and develop independence.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely on a 1:1 basis with a child with ASD
- Support learning activities set by the class teacher
- Implement personalised strategies to support communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation
- Promote a positive, nurturing and structured learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, ALNCo, and external professionals
- Record and provide feedback on progress and behaviour
- Experience supporting children with ASD (school or care settings welcome)
- Calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships
- Understanding of ASD, sensory needs and communication differences
- Good organisational skills and willingness to learn
- Level 2/3 TA qualification is desirable but not essential
- Supportive and welcoming school environment
- Training opportunities (Thrive Training, Team Teach level 2 courses on a discounted rate, CPD Training)
