Overview
Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Quality Assurance Analyst and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be required to qualify as an Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA)-1 Lead Auditor and perform assessments and audits. Responsibilities include developing checklists, assessment plans, and assessment reports based on upper-tier requirements. Perform quality assurance reviews of procedures and procurement documents for compliance with applicable quality program requirements. Assist in the maintenance and development of technical, administrative, and programmatic documents related to the implementation of an NQA-1 and 10
CFR
830 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) compliant program.
Participate in and lead surveillances and audits of various quality program elements. Review and approve vendor and supplier QA programs and documentation.
Perform software quality assurance activities, including participation in and documentation of Software Quality Assurance (SQA) assessments. This involves assessing SQA work activities, demonstrating knowledge of the software lifecycle processes, safety software identification and management, design concepts, verification and validation, configuration management, and the proper maintenance and operation of safety software.
Travel may be required for leading and participating in assessments. The candidate will write clear and organized reports and other documents that effectively communicate ideas, solutions, and project status.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of professional experience, or
- Associate’s degree with seven (7) years of professional experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with eleven (11) years of professional experience is required.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements- Strong interface skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction.
- Strong oral and written communications, audit/surveillance skills including prior NQA-1 Lead Auditor Certification or American Society for Quality Certification is desired.

Exempt grade level(s) 30-33. Salary range: $80,609 to $154,567 per year --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
