Job DescriptionThe Field Generator Technician provides technical expertise as part of a team for the repair and maintenance of natural‑gas powered generators and supporting equipment. The Technician develops, refines, and optimizes maintenance programs to reduce generator fleet costs and maximize reliability. They create and document maintenance procedures, maintain the Mesa standard across field offices, and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams on product improvements and new product development to maintain industry leadership.
EssentialDuties
- Perform maintenance services on Mesa units in accordance with the Mesa standard.
- Maintain unit records by thoroughly recording service/repair tasks and parts used.
- Troubleshoot problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Provide superior customer service.
- Verify and ensure Mesa unit serviceability by following service checklists.
- Update professional knowledge through constant study of Mesa units.
- Maintain the Mesa standard in all aspects of job responsibilities.
- Perform all duties in a safe and effective manner according to the company’s policies and procedures.
- Keep the work environment clean and organized at all times.
- Transmit information and documents using work computer and phone.
- Maintain professional personal appearance.
- Help provide a positive team spirit daily.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Required:
High school or equivalent and mechanical specialty course. - Preferred:
Trade school graduate with engine and mechanical focus;
Bachelor’s degree from accredited four‑year university.
- Required:
Experience operating 3/4‑1 ton service trucks and trailer pulling experience. - Preferred: 2‑3 years of related experience; honorably discharged service veterans preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
- Work independently with little supervision.
- Work under stress in high‑pressure situations.
- Handle frequent interruptions and conflict effectively.
- Learn new processes and business functions to facilitate the mission.
- Team player with adaptability in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment.
- Positive, energetic self‑starter with excellent drive, ambition, and work ethic.
- Communicate ideas effectively and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools, standard and metric systems.
- Understanding of electricity and associated hazards (preferred).
- Proficiency with engine troubleshooting tools, including engine control modules and gaseous fuel systems (preferred).
- Sitting, standing, walking, driving, talking, seeing, hearing, using hands to type, touch, handle or feel.
- Bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling.
- Frequently required to stand and reach with arms and hands.
- Occasionally required to walk, climb, or balance.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs; occasionally lift or move more than 50 lbs.
- Able to climb into confined spaces that may contain hazardous gas.
- Work in confined spaces.
