Straddling West Texas and southeastern New Mexico, the Permian is the most prolific oil and gas basin in America and the engine behind the country’s energy renaissance. Nationally, it provides about 40% of oil and 15% of gas production and plays a critical role in making the U.S. a leading energy exporter.

The merger of Exxon Mobil and Pioneer creates an Unconventional business with the largest, high-return development potential in the Permian Basin. The combined company’s more than 1.4 million net acres in the Delaware and Midland basins have an estimated 16 billion barrels of oil equivalent resource. In 2023, we produced, on average 612,000 barrels a day in the Permian Basin, and we're aiming to produce 1 million barrels per day from our Permian assets by the end of 2027.

Investments in infrastructure from New Mexico to the Gulf Coast enhance logistics and integrated value. We've advanced gathering and processing facilities, including the Cowboy central delivery point. Integration maximizes resource development through to fuels, lubes, and chemicals. The Permian Basin business unit also has the distinction of being the first at Exxon Mobil to unveil and execute a plan for net zero Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions in operated assets by 2030, as part of the Corporation’s broader 2050 net zero ambition.

Midstream Pipeline Operator located in Carlsbad, NM. The operator plays a key role in maintaining and documenting key data, while also focusing on reliability of their area.

• Perform daily operation of pipeline gathering systems located in Carlsbad, NM including daily rounds, weekly, monthly and yearly inspections of assigned area of responsibility, maintenance ticket submittal and follow up if required until completion, all housekeeping, engagement with all onsite visitors to ensure expectations are clearly communicated and adhered to.
• Lead pre-task briefings to ensure all hazards and mitigations are clearly identified prior to starting any tasks.
• Responsible for engaging in and promoting a strong safety culture.
• Regular pipeline pigging, valve maintenance and right-of-way monitoring.
• Use Ignition and SCADA systems to monitor operations.
• Perform Lock-Out/Tag-Out process on pressure vessels and pipelines.
• Write and document various permits associated with daily activities.
• Fulfill area operator responsibilities on all permits executed with area of responsibilities (proper delegation may be required).
• View safety as a value.
• Work with knowledge of P&IDs for pipelines and pig farms.
• Utilize good written and verbal communication skills.
• Work in extreme outdoor conditions, with flexible hours and on‑call rotation as needed.
