- Troubleshoot and correct airflow issues, including:
- static pressure testing
- duct and register performance checks
- blower and fan diagnostics
- filtration, return/supply balance, and comfort distribution problems
- Complete repairs to manufacturer specs and best practices, with clean workmanship.
- Provide comprehensive system evaluations and offer honest recommendations.
- Document work thoroughly in service notes, including readings, observations, and next steps.
- Maintain a high standard of customer communication, cleanliness, and respect in the home.
- Participate in ongoing training—company-provided to expand beyond core HVAC basics.
- Follow safety procedures and uphold company quality standards every call.
Required (Fundamentals):
- Working knowledge of HVAC basics: refrigeration cycle, electrical fundamentals, components, and common system types.
- 1+ year of residential HVAC service/maintenance experience or equivalent hands-on technical background.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn advanced diagnostics.
- Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, and tight spaces.
Highly Valued:
- Demonstrated experience diagnosing airflow and comfort issues.
- Comfort advising mindset: you like educating customers and solving whole-home problems.
- Attention to detail—your work is consistent, complete, and well-documented.
- EPA 608 Certification (or willingness to obtain quickly).
- Familiarity with San Diego housing styles and ducting challenges is a plus.
- Customers feel informed and taken care of—because your approach is careful and complete.
- You test, verify, and confirm performance before leaving.
- You don’t just “fix it,” you explain the why and help prevent repeat issues.
- You grow your skills through training and become a trusted expert on airflow and system performance.
- Competitive hourly pay + performance incentives
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits
- Retirement plan options
- Paid time off and holidays
- Company vehicle, gas card, phone, and tablets
- Ongoing technical and customer-service training
- A supportive team with high standards and zero drama
- Real opportunity for advancement in a growing San Diego shop
Send your resume and a short note about your HVAC experience (especially any airflow or performance troubleshooting you’ve done). We’re excited to meet techs who care about doing the job thoroughly and treating customers right.
