Supplier Quality Engineer II

Responsible for ensuring that externally sourced components, materials, and assemblies meet all applicable quality, regulatory, and performance requirements. Acts as a technical resource to both internal stakeholders and the supplier base, supporting the development, qualification, and ongoing performance of suppliers. Key responsibilities include monitoring supplier quality metrics, leading root‑cause and corrective action activities, managing non‑conformances, conducting supplier audits, and supporting First Article Inspections (FAIs) and supplier qualification processes.

Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, supports new product introduction (NPI) programs, and provides guidance to suppliers on quality expectations, standards, and corrective action methodologies.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze supplier quality performance data to identify trends and drive supply‑chain process improvements.
  • Maintain and update supplier quality scorecards.
  • Coordinate Supplier Quality improvement work sessions with suppliers.
  • Perform or lead root‑cause investigations for purchased component or product quality issues, ensuring containment, corrective action implementation, and final resolution.
  • Monitor NCR performance by commodity and supplier; drive improvement and corrective action plans to address component failures.
  • Actively participate in MRB sessions, ensuring timely investigations and adherence to metrics.
  • Coordinate and execute quarantine, purge, and screening processes.
  • Maintain non‑conformities inventory within target by ensuring timely and accurate material disposition.
  • Execute the Supplier Qualification process.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct supplier audits, including issuing audit reports, tracking improvement plans, and verifying effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Support component approval and qualification activities, including First Article Inspections (FAI), and communicate improvement opportunities to suppliers.
  • Maintain documentation of improvement plans in ERP, PLM, and HME action‑tracking systems.
  • Maintain the inspection and sampling plans updated for incoming inspection.
  • Ensure that quality requirements are communicated, understand supplier capabilities, and manage exceptions/risks effectively.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Support NPI (New Product/Process Introduction) initiatives as needed.
  • Participate in Design Review meetings to remain informed on design changes and their impact on supplier quality.
  • Contribute to the development and coordination of the supplier audit / visit program.
  • Support supplier development programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain strong cross‑functional collaboration with Engineering, Supply Chain, Commodity Management, and Project Management teams.
  • Communicate and train suppliers on corrective action processes and quality tools/techniques.
  • Recommend suppliers for qualification or disqualification based on quality performance.
  • Support the ISO 9001 internal audit program.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by Quality Assurance Management.
