Carlsbad, CA 92008 Duration: 6 months on W2 Contract (potential to be extended) 2nd Shift: 1:30pm - 10:45pm Description SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Equipment Maintenance Technician II performs preventive maintenance. ongoing maintenance, and production equipment repairs on a routine and emergency basis. This position improves total operating efficiency related to minimizing process downtime, maintaining process preventive maintenance, and improving internal administrative processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Manages personal safety on an ongoing basis.
- Troubleshoots mechanical, low voltage, and sensor problems.
- Provides routine preventive maintenance on production equipment utilizing the preventive maintenance process.
- Responds to trouble calls from Production Operators regarding equipment set-up, material change-out, line clearance, and basic operation.
- Provides documentation support ensuring documents such as validations, EIN’s and PM’s are correct and current for assigned equipment and processes.
- Responds and documents internal alarms from the “Process Alarm System”.
- Performs duties in compliance with established business policies.
This position interacts with production and engineering teams from operator through managers. This role interacts with various external contractors and vendors as supervised and directed by supervisor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.
This position may be directed to operate process equipment in a production mode as an initial and ongoing intermittent assignment to learn the process as well as fill-in for production to gain operational experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:- Must be able to walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and crawl for periods of up to 15 minutes.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. several times per day.
- Must have adequate vision correctable by regular corrective lenses.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted.
- Walking and conducting physical activities associated with completing work requests.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a high-speed equipment manufacturing environment or equivalent (required)
- 1-2 years of experience working with Engineering projects (preferred)
- 1-3 years of troubleshooting experience with process controls, sensors, and servomotors (required)
- Experience working in a high paced GMP manufacturing environment preferred
- Associate degree or trade school certification (preferred)
- Understanding of electrical and pneumatic schematics (required)
- Ability to operate manufacturing equipment
- Basic electro-mechanical skills (required)
- Mid-level degree of problem-solving ability to resolve process equipment problems required
- Thorough understanding and application of safety procedures (required)
- Decision making skills regarding safety, equipment, and system functions requiring equipment adjustments or shutting down the process (required)
- Basic computer skills including file management, MS Word, Excel, and preventive maintenance software (required)
- Basic understanding of high voltage with electrical safety awareness (preferred)
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently
- Knowledge of QSR/ISO 9001 (preferred)

Compensation:The hourly rate for this position is between $27.50 - $30.80 per hour.
Factors that may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
