Overview

Cortica is looking for a Lead Behavior Technician – School-Based Support to join its growing team!

The Lead School Behavior Technician provides direct behavior-analytic services to students with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental differences in school settings. In addition to delivering direct student support, the Lead BT serves as the direct supervisor, providing administrative support and performance management for School Behavior Technicians, modeling best practices, and offering guidance in the implementation of behavior intervention strategies. This role is essential in ensuring consistent, high-quality, neurodiversity-affirming support for students and school teams.

What will you do:
  • Provide direct implementation of behavior-analytic services to students in one-on-one and group settings within school environments.
  • Lead by example in implementing individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs aligned with students’ IEPs and educational goals.
  • Support and mentor school-based BTs by modeling strategies, answering questions, and troubleshooting implementation challenges.
  • Substitute in schools as needed to ensure continuity of services and provide high-quality support in the absence of assigned BTs.
  • Collaborate with Behavior Analysts, educators, and school teams to integrate behavioral strategies into classroom routines.
  • Support students' growth in communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and adaptive skills as appropriate to the school setting.
  • Utilize a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach to service delivery.
  • Collect and review data to monitor student progress and support BTs in accurate data collection practices.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to BTs as delegated by supervising Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs).
  • Participate in classroom observations, team meetings, and school-based training sessions; help facilitate training for new BTs.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and leadership in dynamic school environments. Oversee the day-to-day administrative supervision of school behavior technicians (SBTs) in the areas of performance management, nonclinical administration, clinical accountability, leave of absence and workplace accommodations support, workers’ compensation case support, separation of employment, and time and schedule management.
  • Establish working relationship with all direct reports throughout the teammate lifecycle from orientation through employment separation.
  • Complete daily administration of SBT time off management, SBT callout management in conjunction with scheduling department, approval of additional indirect time, approval and review of SBT serious incident reports (SIRs), SBT availability changes.
  • Complete and/or assist with audits for administrative or indirect time (weekly), meal and rest break penalties – California only (per pay period), unconverted sessions (weekly). Report findings to ABA site manager and work with SBTs to rectify any discrepancies.
