Subrogation Specialist

$20.00 to $24.00 per hour

SUMMARY:

Reese Law Group is a law firm located in Carlsbad (San Diego County) that specializes in debt collections, subrogation, bankruptcy, and replevins. Reese Law Group is seeking candidates to fill the Subrogation Specialist position at the law firm.

The candidate will assist the firm’s subrogation department in the administration and recovery of subrogation claims. The candidate must possess sharp analytical reasoning and critical thinking skills. The position requires meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage high volume. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing claims for liability and recovery potential. Candidates are expected to possess excellent communication and negotiation skills.

The position requires the candidate to establish contact with the insured party, the responsible party, the responsible party’s insurance carrier, and the client.

The firm offers medical and dental insurance with the employer partially contributing to the premium. All employees receive paid time off for vacation and sick days. For full time employees, the firm offers a 401k program with employer match up to a certain amount per year.

DAILY TASKS AND JOB

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Communicate by telephone and email to multiple parties involved in a single claim.
  • File review and analysis to determine liability and contribution. Includes reviewing for incomplete information prior to proceeding with the claim. Evaluate facts, write clear and concise stances of liability and impressions from reviewing the file.
  • Confirm insurance coverage and if so, submit demand packages to insurance carriers.
  • Negotiate settlements with the responsible party and other insurance carriers.
  • Prepare a claim for a lawsuit.
  • Skip tracing for service of process.
  • Follow up on payment plans for past due payments and re-establishing defaulted payment plans.
  • Be an overall point of contact for subrogation claims to clients.
  • Document the claim file in the firm’s case management software in a detailed and accurate manner.
  • Apply legal concepts regarding subrogation and civil litigation to claims.
  • Complete assigned tasks within a preset time frame.
  • Assist the subrogation department with additional tasks as needed.
  • Utilize MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other computer software programs in an efficient manner, and to search for help in the use of such programs independently via the internet.
