Overview
The Golf Ball Cost Manager has a pivotal role on the Taylor Made Global Operations team, offering a remarkable opportunity for candidates with strong supply chain and technical backgrounds. In this position, you will spearhead the cost assessment and strategy of existing and new products, working closely with our R&D, Engineering, Finance, and leadership teams. The primary focus of this role will be centered around identifying the true costs of vertically integrated golf ball products, and those at external suppliers, and increasing product margin in those products.
To be successful in this role you will need to apply specific skills sets and knowledge such as activity-based costing, demand planning, and financial modeling to help create the supply chain strategy for Taylor Made golf ball.
We are seeking a candidate who has extensive costing knowledge and can conduct on-site negotiations with internal and external vendors. This individual should be genuinely passionate about optimizing operations, reducing costs, and implementing strategic initiatives. The ability to create relationships and influence stakeholders is essential. This role reports directly to the Associate Director of Purchasing and Capacity Planning for Taylor Made golf ball and offers a compelling career path for supply chain professionals eager to make an impact in the golf industry.
EssentialFunctions And
Key Responsibilities
- Lead activity-based costing initiative to identify cost by product type and facility.
- Lead cross-functional team in golf ball margin initiative by identifying and implementing cost reduction projects across vertically integrated facilities and external suppliers.
- Build financial models to aid senior leadership with capital investment ventures.
- Create and present golf ball supply chain strategy initiatives to senior/executive leadership.
- Lead the solicitation and evaluation of supplier proposals/quotations, negotiating prices and terms to achieve cost optimization.
- Provide leadership, insights, and support on cross-functional new product introduction teams.
- Support the development of analytical models and tools to better understand the relationship between design and cost drivers.
- Establish and maintain a price quoting process for domestic and foreign suppliers.
- Manage and update price lists and price revision history for each product and supplier.
- Create cost roll-up documents for all new product introductions.
- Research pricing trends of commodities critical to Taylor Made’s supply chain.
- Facilitate cost reviews and propose new design-for-manufacture cost options in collaboration with R&D, Engineering, and Product Creation.
- Represent the sourcing function in weekly development and new product introduction meetings.
- Develop and manage a sourcing strategy to enable faster and more cost-effective delivery of Taylor Made’s ball business category.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
- Fluent verbal and written English communication skills are required.
- Manufacturing expertise, including knowledge of various processes such as injection molding, automated painting, and packaging.
- Cost analysis and negotiation expertise.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel.
- Experience in lean manufacturing and continual process improvement.
- Ability to identify and drive manufacturing process changes.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with external and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to build relationships and establish credibility across the organization.
- Proficient at simplifying complex data for presentation to diverse management levels.
- Familiarity with Business Objects and DOMO, or Oracle.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- Master of Business Administration or other graduate degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a costing, new product introduction, product development, sourcing, or engineering function
