Title: I.T. & Web Developer

Reports to: I.T. Manager

Location: Carlisle

Located in Cumbria, home of the English Lake District, we operate a next day service, nationwide and beyond. We are passionate about our products, people, and customers. Part of the ASSA ABLOY group, the global leader in access solutions.

As part of a small team of developers – develop, test and assist in the go live of changes to our company software (predominantly web‑based front end), and develop new functions in line with company requirements. When required assist other team members by:

• Documenting and sharing knowledge of the software functions so that other team members can develop the same systems.
• Working on other in‑house development projects where required, including our website.

Any change or new system developed is to be secure, intuitive and efficient to use, with up‑to‑date documentation maintained.

• Maintain and support existing systems created in‑house or requiring developer support to rectify issues.
• Develop new functionality through defined change channels or as part of larger projects.
• Develop interfaces to other related solutions (cloud‑based or in‑house) that log all functions for later investigation or troubleshooting.
• Write code that is accessible, robust, flexible, efficient and secure.
• Maintain a comprehensive documentation library of the system to agreed standards.
• Arrange thorough testing plans to achieve user acceptance, involving all key stakeholders.
• Report progress of work packages to the I.T. team and, where relevant, Project Managers.
• Identify risks within proposed systems and design mitigation strategies.
• Assist in go‑live and training of modules.
• Act as part of the whole I.T. team, assisting others when able.
• Use source control with Git.

• Strong knowledge of object‑oriented programming concepts.
• Experience developing solutions against Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience with .Net Core, Entity Framework Core & Angular.
• Desirable:
  Experience with PHP, JavaScript & LESS/CSS.
• Desirable:
  Experience with Azure Dev Ops (source control) & JIRA.
• Desirable:
  Understanding of and/or experience with CI/CD.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong MS Office skills and attention to detail.
• Mind‑set for continuous improvement and self‑development.
• Team player who can also work independently.
• Strong organisational & administrative skills.
