Clinical Nurse Specialist - Glaucoma
Are you a passionate and driven Glaucoma nurse specialist eager to elevate your career? We are seeking a dynamic, motivated practitioner with a proactive approach to glaucoma management who wants to make a real difference in patients daily lives.

Responsibilities- Undertake a comprehensive assessment of the patient physical, psychological, social and ophthalmic history.
- Ophthalmic examination and use of assessment or monitoring tools as appropriate.
- Analyze and synthesize findings from assessments, tests and investigations.
- Request investigations within scope of practice and interpret results.
- Apply guidelines and/or protocols where they exist; present findings to an MDT forum or other health and social care professionals as required.
- Determine frequency of review and provide treatment and care to prevent or minimise secondary complications.
- Identify and manage deterioration and respond to medical emergencies commonly seen in the specialty.
- Promote health and provide advice on lifestyle choices; educate patients, carers and families about condition, treatment options and health/lifestyle activities.
- Admit and discharge from the specialty area as appropriate; arrange referrals to relevant health and social care professionals and agencies.
- Act as an expert clinical advisor for colleagues and as a resource or educator; lead and/or contribute to specialist education programmes.
- Participate in research and audit programmes related to the specialty.

Essential
- Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Postgraduate diploma/Level 7 study with clinical focus and work-based learning in the field of ophthalmology.
- NST
307 or equivalent.
Desirable
- Master’s Degree
- Non-medical nurse prescriber
- Experience in eye emergency care (desirable).
Essential
- Current CNS post in ophthalmology with extensive post-registration clinical experience.
- Strong specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and practical application.
- Ability to undertake required training and demonstrate knowledge of the Four Pillars of Practice.
- Awareness of local and national Advanced Practice agendas.
Desirable
- Experience with cons/cataract clinics.
Essential
- Holds a clean UK driving license.
- Motivated to develop within the ACNS role to deliver high-quality patient care within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- CPD evidence demonstrating sustained motivation in a CNS role.
