Graduate Engineer

At Story Contracting, you’ll work on a diverse range of civil engineering and rail projects through our established frameworks for industry-leading and public sector clients, including:

• Earthworks
• Trackworks
• Structures
• Property
• Highways
• Water
• Energy

We’re looking for either a newly graduated engineer or someone with 2–3 years of post-graduate experience who is ready to take the next step in their career.

You should have:

• A Civil Engineering degree (BEng/MEng) or equivalent.
• Ideally some industry experience (placement, internship, or postgraduate role).
• Ambition, resilience, and a strong team-player mindset.
• Full UK driving licence (travel between sites and offices required).

• Assist with site supervision and daily construction activities
• Carry out setting out and surveying tasks
• Perform quality checks to ensure work meets specifications
• Support health, safety, and environmental compliance on site
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams
• Contribute to solving technical and practical engineering issues
• Prepare progress updates, reports, and site documentation
• Support design reviews and compliance management to ensure works align with project specifications, standards, and regulations
